Sunday at Pender UMC ~ November 22, 2015
This Sunday, Nov. 22nd, is Church Conference Sunday and we will have only ONE Worship Service at 10:00 am. Join us for a yummy lunch after the service!
We will celebrate our ministries and elect our officers for the coming year. YOU need to be there because we will present for the church’s approval the new building and renovation program. EVERY member of Pender needs to be present so that you may have a vote about this important endeavor in the life of our church.

PLEASE NOTE:
- No Adult and Children Sunday School.
- Childcare will be provided from 9:45-11:45am for children birth through Kindergarten during the worship service.
- Jr. Church for grades 1-6 will be held after the Children’s Message during the service.
- Our Trustees request for everyone to carpool that day, if at all possible, so that parking isn’t a problem.
- A luncheon will be held right after the worship service in the Fellowship Hall.

- November 22: The Pender Youth Orchestra, 4:15-5:00 pm. The Youth Orchestra is open to all youth grades 7 through 12 who play a wind, brass, stringed or percussion instrument. New members are always welcome! The Orchestra plays 4-5 times during Sunday morning worship from December-June. More information.

Unwrapping God’s Greatest Gift

Advent will start on Sunday, November 29, and we will start an exciting new Advent program,“Under Wraps: The Gift We Never Expected.” Prepared and piloted by The Woodlands United Methodist Church in Houston, this joyful program explores some of God’s unexpected qualities, presented over the four weeks of Advent, plus Christmas Eve:
Just as the first wrapped gift beneath the Christmas tree marks the new season, so the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day signaled that God’s hope and salvation and redemption plan had come into the world. In Jesus, God gift-wrapped himself in human flesh and was born in a stable so he could come and live among us and offer us life and salvation that we could never gain on our own. Join us this Advent as we unwrap God’s greatest gift, our Savior Jesus! |
Christmas is Right Around the Corner!
It’s already time to order poinsettia plants to decorate our Christmas altar! Order a plant in honor or in memory of a loved one. Cost is $10 per plant.
Sign-up slips are at the Sign-Up Center in the church lobby and payment must accompany order.
Plants are yours after the 11pm Christmas Eve Service.
Small Group Celebration!
Join us next Friday evening, November 13, at 7pm, for dessert and coffee (and other beverages) as we celebrate the conclusion of our church-wide study and message series, “A Disciple’s Path.”
We had a great turn out at the opening celebration, and if you attended that, we’d love for you to invite a friend this time! During our time together we will have an “open-mic” time of testimony sharing regarding your experiences through small groups and diving deeper into what it means to follow the disciple’s path through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
We will also share information about our upcoming Advent message series and group experience entitled, “Under Wraps: The Gift We Never Expected.”
