Please join us today at our 8:15, 9:30 or 11:00 am worship services. We will bring to a conclusion the three week series on the Three Simple Rules of our founder John Wesley. These are rules which call forth the best in each of us, and challenge us to be Jesus’ disciples every day. The key to our success is in the third rule: Stay in Love with God. (Mark 12:28-34)
We also will begin to receive our Pledge Cards for your financial stewardship commitments.
Also today:
The United Methodist Women will host a Fair Trade Market after the 11am service (during the Chicken-Chili lunch) in the fellowship room and fellowship hall. The vendors will sell fair trade goods, including: food, clothing, accessories, household goods, decorations, etc. Please come peruse the merchandise and know that anything you purchase has helped to better the life of someone in a less fortunate situation than ours.
Fair trade means workers in developing countries are paid a living wage. Some of the proceeds will go to the Pender UMW for our mission work and UMCOR. Thanks for your support and happy shopping!

Daylight Saving Time 2017 ends for the year so the clock change for the fall takes place this morning at 2 a.m. Daylight Saving Time 2017 seems overdue, but it is the same time each year.
The clock changes on the first Sunday in November. Daylight Saving Time starts on the second Sunday in March each year.
Please join us today at our 8:15, 9:30 and 11am Worship Services.
Pastor Dan will be preaching his final sermon in his series based on our church-wide study, “Solve: Finding God’s Solutions in a World of Problems” entitled ” The Beauty of Name-Dropping” (Nehemiah 3:1-5).
Last week’s sermon:
Flea Market and Boutique Set Up Begins today.
Enjoy a BBQ luncheon (provided by the UMW) immediately following the 11am service and then help us get a start on all of the set up and unpacking of boxes!
Our Pender men will return from their retreat later in the day, so we really need as many hands on deck as possible to make this happen! Please remember, these are the biggest fundraisers for the UMW and UMM and allow us to raise all of our budget for missions throughout the year!
Of course we will continue to need help throughout the week with getting everything in its place, so consider helping then as well or you can be a cashier during the event.
We would also love to have extra bakers for our women’s bake sale. Donations for the flea market will be accepted beginning this Sunday through Wednesday.
We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact our leaders below:
All donations may be left in the blue grocery cart located in the coat rack area. Financial contributions are also accepted (cash, check or through our website). Please mark your tax deductible donation “WFCM Food Pantry.” This will be recorded on your giving statement.

World Communion Sunday offers us an opportunity to experience Holy Communion in the context of the global community of faith.
The first Sunday of October has become a time when Christians in every culture break bread and pour the cup to remember and affirm Christ as the Head of the Church.
On that day, we remember that we are part of the whole body of believers.
Christians celebrate the communion liturgy in as many ways as there are congregations. World Communion Sunday can be both a profound worship experience and a time for learning more about our wider community of faith.
Come, celebrate at Pender today at 8:15, 9:30 or 11:00 AM
Pastor Dan will be preaching at all 3 services and will continue his sermon series based on our church-wide study, “Solve: Finding God’s Solutions in a World of Problems.” This week’s sermon is entitled “Food Network Solutions (Nehemiah 5:1-19).
Please try to attend this service — as a time for supporting the efforts of our children, and as a time for showing appreciation for our praise band’s service at Pender. We believe you will experience the goodness of our “Good Good Father” and His love for His children of ALL ages!!
All donations may be left in the blue grocery cart located in the coat rack area. Financial contributions are also accepted (cash, check or through our website). Please mark your tax deductible donation “WFCM Food Pantry.” This will be recorded on your giving statement.

Sing ‘n Celebrate Celebration of Children at October 1 at 5:00
Save this date for your family’s opportunity to hear Pender kids sharing about the beautiful story of “Good Good Father” — which will leave your children with a greater understanding of who God is and of who they are because they are loved by Him.
We read in Matthew 7:12 – “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you”, which is commonly known as the Golden Rule.
This statement, as Jesus formulated it, is the foundation of active goodness and mercy — the kind of love God shows to us every day.
We have a special opportunity next Sunday to be witness to our children and grandchildren demonstrating in words and acting this type of love.
Today marks the Big 5-0 for The United Methodist Church. So (of course) we compiled 50 reasons the world is a bett… twitter.com/i/web/status/9…2 days ago
Pastor Dan preached at all 3 services. Jesus is in the house! Did you know that? If we claim to follow him, Jesus is in our household of faith, the Church, and in our households of family and friends, however they are composed. So then, how are we to live within our households if Jesus is there? This is the fundamental question that Paul addresses in his fir […]
John Hamilton preached at all 3 services. John and Lisa Hamilton are the One Mission Society (OMS) team leaders for Uruguay. After serving 10 years in various pastoral and team roles in Bogotá and Medellín, Colombia, John and Lisa moved to Montevideo in early 2003. The OMS team in Uruguay currently works in partnership with Christ Church, an interdenominatio […]
Pastor Dan preached at all 3 services. On Easter we heard about the first witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus, and how they told others about what they saw and experienced. What have you seen and experienced about Jesus? Did you know we’re all being called to the witness stand? We will hear a witness from someone in the addiction recovery community and ho […]
Pastor Jay preached at all 3 services on March 18, 2018. Of course it is no surprise that this Sunday is EASTER! And we all know there will be flowers and brass and triumphant music and favorite hymns and excited children and dressed-up adults and both Alleluias and Hallelujahs and even rumors of an empty grave and eternal life . . . and there will be a stor […]
Pastor Dan preached at common ground on Easter. Our Leader Moves from Death to Life Many of us love all the traditions of Easter, including the flowers, music and dressing up in our Easter best! We can worship in various ways though, including this informal service where you might see folks wearing anything from shorts and t-shirts to dresses, suits and ties […]
Pastor Dan preached at all 3 services. As Palm Sunday approaches, the old cheer comes to mind: “What do we want?” “Change/Victory/Whatever!” “When do we want it?” “Now!” That mindset of the masses was prevalent as Jesus rode into Jerusalem, and it’s still prevalent today. We want what WE want and we want it NOW. We are eager for the quick fix… and in three e […]
Pastor Jay preached at all 3 services on March 18, 2018. Our names are important to us. We do not like for them to be mispronounced, misspelled, forgotten, or used as a launching pad for making a joke about us. For many of us, there is behind our name a story, or an ethnicity, or a nationality, or a significant historic connection, or all of these! Behind th […]
Pastor Dan preached at all 3 services. What do we choose to see? Have you ever thought of that? If you wander through an art museum you often find several people looking at the same painting yet choosing to see different aspects from each other. Children often pass the time on summer days by lying down, looking at the clouds, and seeing different animals in […]
Pastor Jay preached at all 3 services on March 4, 2018. Given the multiplicity of water fountains, coffee shops, healthy drink options, and fancy drink containers, we probably find ourselves hydrated all the day long. In fact, the concept of “thirst” is lost on us, because if we are ever thirsty, the remedy is easily within reach. Jesus knows that we thirst […]
Pastor Dan preached at all 3 services. John 3:16 is probably the most well known verse of the Bible. We see it on signs and car decals. Athletes write it on their uniform in some way. It’s one of the first verses we teach to our children. Yet, we cannot take these words out of their context. Someone comes to Jesus under cover of darkness, and Jesus ends the […]
