Sing ‘N Celebrate, Sept. 11th @ 5-6pm in the Fellowship Hall
According to an anonymous writer on the internet – “In times of turmoil and tragedy, First Responders are the people who run toward the crisis. They never ask for our gratitude, but they certainly deserve it.” We can express our appreciation for these heroes by attending this SNC where Capt. Jim Wasem of the Arlington Police Dept. will share.
We hope you can join in the fellowship over the good food of the potluck which will follow. Just bring a side dish or a dessert to share please. We are joining with the youth group, and Tim will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs.
The National Cathedral hosted the service three days after the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001. The Rev. Billy Graham preached; President George W. Bush spoke, and the Very Rev. Nathan Baxter and the Rt. Rev. Jane Holmes Dixon officiated.

Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from Great Britain.
Independence Day fireworks are often accompanied by patriotic songs such as the national anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner”, “God Bless America”, “America the Beautiful”, “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee”, “This Land Is Your Land”, “Stars and Stripes Forever”, and, regionally, “Yankee Doodle” in northeastern states and “Dixie” in southern states. Some of the lyrics recall images of the Revolutionary War or the War of 1812.
A bit of audio for your listening pleasure, as played by Vladimir Horowitz…
