Today at Pender UMC ~ June 26, 2016

Please join us this today, June 26th, at our 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 am Worship Services. Pastor Kenny will be preaching at the 8:15 and 11:00 am services on “How to Handle Anxiety as a Christian” (Philippians 4:4-9). Pastor Dan will be preaching on the same subject at the 9:30 service.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:4-7)

First Grade Bibles

Current First Graders will be receiving a Bible from Pender on Sunday, June 12th, during the 11am worship service.

If your son or daughter does not attend Sunday school at 9:30 and you would like him/her to receive a Bible, please indicate on the Connection Card or contact Karen Cross.

The Life and Hymns of Charles Wesley

Charles Wesley lived from December 18, 1707 until March 29, 1788.  He was an English leader of the Methodist movement, son of Anglican clergyman and poet Samuel Wesley, the younger brother of Methodist founder John Wesley and Anglican clergyman Samuel Wesley the Younger. Charles Wesley is mostly remembered for the over 6,000 hymns he wrote.

In the course of his career, Charles Wesley published the words of over six thousand hymns, many of which are still popular. These include:

  • “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today”
  • “Christ, Whose Glory Fills the Skies”
