Dear Members and Friends of Pender United Methodist Church,
On Wednesday, January 27 at 7pm, I’ll be hosting Dr. Joe Hart who will give a presentation on “Pandemic Fatigue” for the first of several “Pender Talks”. You can participate simply by clicking on the link (if you need a passcode, it’s 31357. As time allows, Dr. Hart will answer questions you may have.
Dr. Hart is a graduate of The College of William and Mary and the Marshall University School of Medicine. He has been an MD for four years. In June, he will complete his residency in Psychiatry at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He considers Virginia to be his home and is a lifelong Christian.
Come hear about how to improve your own resilience as well as ways to help others! I hope to “see you there”.
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Will White, Lead Pastor of Pender UMC

Rev. Will White continues his series “Follow Me!”
The Third Message will be “Follow Me” based on Jonah 3:1-5, 10; 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 and Mark 1:14-20
How do we convince people that following Jesus is not simply about a state of being, but a call to doing? Certainly, there is a need for training, for preparation, for growing as disciples; but the end is always an outward focus, always looking for ways to connect, to widen the net.

Rev. Will White continues his series “Follow Me!”
The Second Message will be “Anything Good”based on 1 Samuel 3:1-10, 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 and John 1:43-51
“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” That’s our guiding phrase from our gospel text for this week. “Anything good?” Surely you can hear how that sounds. Surely in our contentious environment, you hear the presupposition behind the sarcasm. You can hear the prejudice tucked away in such an innocuous joke.
We are potentially dealing with some difficult topics this week. They are not difficult because they are complicated but because they are threatening. And personal. And most folk have some pretty entrenched positions on race and ethnicity..
