Merry Christmas ~ Luke 2:9-11

Luke2-9-11

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

~Luke 2:9-11, King James Version (KJV)

For some of us Christmas can be a time of stress and anxiety. Joy and cheer sometimes are overwhelmed by sadness.

Join us for Pender’s Blue Christmas Service on December 17th at 7:30pm.

Chuck talks about “Blue Christmas” and what we can do to help others who feel the weight of the season.

Toys for Tots Campaign Continuing

toys-for-tots

This is just a friendly reminder that we are still collecting new toys and books for our Toys For Tots Campaign.

Our bin is back on our table with the red tablecloth in the coat rack area of our church, and we will be collecting until December 7.

Chrismon Tree

chrismon2

Chrismon Tree. Did you know that Pender has a Chrismon Tree in the sanctuary at Christmas time?

Do you know what do those symbols mean on the tree? Who made them and why?

Ornaments made from Christian symbols (or Chrismons, a contraction for ‘Christ monograms’) were first developed by Frances Spencer and the women of the Ascension Lutheran Church in Danville, VA. Many churches display a Chrismon tree during the Advent and Christmas season decorated with handmade ornaments.

In the video below, Chuck talks about the Chrismon Tree.
