About MaryO

Cushing's and kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) patient, founder, owner and webmaster of Cushing's Help and Support, web designer, piano teacher and mom. I am a Cushing's patient who has dealt with Cushing's symptoms since 1983 (or earlier) and the aftereffects of pituitary surgery since 1987. Because I had very little support for my symptoms, diagnosis and surgery, I decided to try to make things a little better for other patients and started a support site called Cushing's Help and Support in 2000. The site has grown to astronomical numbers. This disease isn't as rare as doctors have told us! In 2006, I was also diagnosed with kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma). My left kidney and adrenal gland were removed. Having an adrenal gland removed complicates my post-Cushing's symptoms. I am not planning to have any more rare and unusual diseases. Next meeting on Wednesday, June 29th, at noon for a potluck lunch.

Bring your favorite dish to share and join us as we discuss our summer and fall plans.

If you have ideas for speakers or outings, please bring those or email them to Cheryl.

We will have a short talk on how to retain and enhance the beneficial nutrients in the foods we eat. Attendees will come away with a handy dandy reference guide.

Help Us Collect Backpacks for Needy Teens

14 Jun

Help us support Western Fairfax Christian Ministries by collecting 50 NEW, larger backpacks with two main compartments (any color) for needy students who will be attending Chantilly High School in the Fall.

Backpack size must be 18 inch high x 13 inch wide x 7-8 inches deep (buying suggestion: Costco sells a “High Sierra Backpack” for under $20.)

Please bring your backpack donation(s) to Pender any Sunday during June/July.
