Thank you!

thank-you2

Saundra Sandrock gives thanks on behalf of her daughter, her family and “Jen’s Gems” to all those who baked, bought and donated above and beyond to the Multiple Sclerosis Bake Sale fundraiser. Sale proceeds were $540!

THE NEXT MS FUNDRAISER will be at the Greenbriar SWEET FROG on Thurs., July 11. NO NEED TO PRESENT A FLYER. “Jen’s Gems” will receive 15% of the store’s total sales for the whole day! Did you know that FROG stands for “Fully Rely On God”?

Local Short-term Mission Trip Opportunity

highroad

October 4-6, 2013
Serve as a one-on-one buddy for a child (usually ages 9-16) with special needs
Camp Highroad, Middleburg, VA (about a 45 minute ride West off Rt. 50)
Given the nature of this camp experience for the participants, these are not medically fragile children, but rather higher functioning children with a diagnosis such as Autism or Aspergers.
Open to volunteers 16 years and older. Trained staff will be on the weekend, so no special skills are required just a willing and loving heart.
If interested contact Laura Shuping by clicking on this link.

We’re going to have a Barrel of Fun!

barrelCan you help us decorate for Vacation Bible School?

We have a special request for wooden barrels (we will return them after the week of July 8-12th).

If you have a barrel we can use, please contact Jami Flemmons by clicking on this link.

~~~
Pender’s 2013 summer Vacation Bible School will be held July 8-12, from 9-12 each morning.
Our theme this year will be Gospel Light’s SonWest Roundup.  Kids will “travel down the trail through the Old Testament stories of Moses to discover God’s ultimate plan of salvation in Jesus.”
The Bible verse for the week will be Hebrews 13:8 –  “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
VBS is open to Cowboys and Cowgirls ages 3 through 6th grade (children MUST be potty trained – teachers will NOT change diapers).
Registration fees for 2013 will be $20 per child, $40 maximum per family and can be paid on the first day of VBS.
**REGISTRATION IS CLOSED**
We’re sorry, but our “ranch” has reached capacity and to ensure the safety of all our Cowboys and Cowgirls we have closed registration for this year’s VBS.
If you would like to place your child’s name on the waiting list, please email Jami Flemmons.  Please include your child’s name, age and grade for Fall 2013.
We are still in need of Deputies and Ranch Hands to assist with VBS!   If you would like to help or have questions, please contact Jami Flemmons
Necklaces and Earrings: Terry Havens Gone Wild
More from the Pender ReGift Thrift Store…
regift-jewelry
Uh, if you don’t know, Terry Havens is our associate pastor’s wife, so when we’re talking about going wild, it ain’t That Wild. On the other hand, if you saw the earring and necklace boards that she has created and filled with her handiwork, you would understand that she has certainly outdone herself this time!
Like Saundra Sandrock, Terry has volunteered her time, talent, and materials to us for free, to benefit our mission and the thrift store. She has suggested more-than-reasonable prices, with necklaces for $5 and $6 and earrings going for $2 and $3 a pair.
You better come quick! Terry’s ideas on display and marketing have already been effective. I wasn’t even able to take pictures before holes developed in the board by pieces being sold.
Thank you, Terry!
