Next Blessing of the Backpacks
September 1st at 9:30 am Service
Children are encouraged to bring their school backpacks to be blessed during the 9:30 Common Ground Service.
A special token will be given to each child to take with them to school every day to remind them that they are blessed.

Music Transportation Ministry?
Pender’s Music Ministry is considering starting a transportation ministry to help those families who are unable to get their children to the church on Thursday afternoons for choir and bell rehearsals. Before we can do that, however, we need to know how much interest there would be in starting this ministry.

Sermon on September 1st ~ The Overdue Invitation
How to share our faith with others.
And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic,”Son, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:5)
To avoid meeting during Labor Day Weekend, we will celebrate the testimonies of two members of the laity the evening of Sept. 8th at our Sing ‘n Celebrate Worship Service.
There is no better time than now to reserve this date for hearing their personal stories related to the only decisions that really matter – where they will spend eternity.
When you spend one hour in the dark, you will bring light to families who live in complete darkness every night. On September 14th at 6:00 pm, Pender will be making solar powered lights to take to the border villages that have no electricity in Thailand as part of the Thailand Short-Term Mission Team.
Please bring your family and come out to help assemble the lights. We will start the evening with an Asian-themed pot luck dinner. Every family should bring food to share and then we will assemble the light kits.
Donations to defray the costs of the light kits can be placed in the jar in the Narthex or placed in the offering with a note for “Party in the Dark”.
