It’s the most common prayer spoken in church each Sunday. But where does it come from? And what does it mean?
Chuck gets serious on us as he leads us in the Lord’s Prayer.

Some may think churches are a little obsessed with candles. Why so many? Why have them at all? Chuck sheds a little light on the subject.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. It derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a sign of mourning and repentance to God.

And Chuck Knows Church says…
Ever seen a little smudge mark on someone’s forehead as they walk out of church? That’s a sign of the cross and it means it’s Ash Wednesday during Lent. Chuck tells you about this important worship service:
Lent is a time to prepare for Easter. United Methodists begin Lent on Ash Wednesday and continue celebrating Lent until Easter. We view Lent as a way to slow down and focus on God, so many Methodists will give up foods or activities during this time. The purpose of giving something up is to find more time to focus on God.
Here’s what Chuck Knows Church has to say about Lent.
Ever heard, “I’m giving up sweets for Lent”? Why does Lent make people want to give up something? And how do you calculate the 40 days of Lent?
Enjoy a time of fellowship, dinner and the ever-laughable races.
Feb. 12th at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall
