Pender ReGift Thrift Store is an outreach ministry of Pender United Methodist Church.

Our nonprofit mission is the distribution of material goods to the poor, locally, nationally, and internationally. We are the only church around with a 5,000 sq ft warehouse and a loading dock. Working with for-profit, nonprofit, and government partners, we maximize our nonprofit potential. Our thrift store supports our nonprofit mission. We are family friendly.

Being thrifty, seeking value, or frugality, are all generally given a bad rap, but in this tough economic climate, you can defend your right to be smart.

Our thrift store, offers a wide variety of unique items. Our furniture includes beds, couches, sofa beds, office chairs, tables, desks, cabinets, filing cabinets, baby furniture, and lawn furniture. All upholstered items have been sanitized in accordance with government regulations. Our gently-used clothing has been carefully sorted and sized. We have a wide variety of accessories including hats, shoes, purses, belts, and scarves. Our electronics department has a wide variety of computer equipment, including keyboards, monitors, printers, microwaves, and other small appliances.

We carry big appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers, and dryers. We have toys, sports equipment, linens, and lawn tools. Our books and media include DVDs, CDs, audio books, fiction, nonfiction, classics, a wide variety of children’s chapter books and early readers. We specialize in books for teachers and students. Our nonfiction books are organized including cookbooks, spiritual books, personal finance books, history and biography. Bibles are always free.

WFCM and the Pender ReGift Thrift Store

One partnership that we are particularly proud of is that with Western Fairfax Christian Ministries. When evaluating the relationship as an entrepreneur, it is very unusual that WCFM and Pender ReGift Thrift Store should be partners. We essentially have the same business, in the same location, occupying the same marketplace. We are clearly competitors! PRTS’ competitive advantages are that we sanitize more upholstered furniture than WCFM, and we have a stronger recycling stream for our discarded goods. WCFM has a better location.

But both ministries attribute their service to God, and in this relationship our partnership becomes not only possible, but flourishes. Clients they cannot serve are referred to us, and vice versa. We’ll trade a couch for a bed. In an recent pickup, Martin (PRTS) provided the truck and Tom (WCFM) provided the labor: The orgs split the booty.

Forced out of their location because the landlord could get more money from a different tenant, WCFM has recently split and relocated both their food pantry and their thrift store. The thrift store is now located at 13939 Metrotech Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151. Some of their donors still have not found them at their new location, but because we’re partners, we are happy to tell them how to get there.

From the Pender ReGift Thrift Store: More Gifts, WCFM

Our current special of giving six free children’s books to kids between 3 and 16 has been a wonderful promotion, making kids and their parents very happy, and encouraging collateral purchasing.

This special, and our other current specials ($5 of off $25, BOGO Shorts) will all run out this Saturday, on June 29, 2013. Act by Saturday to get your child his or her deserving fair share of our free books.

Starting in July, and continuing throughout the month, we will be having a huge clothing sale. Any clothing tag marked prior to April, 2013, will only be one dollar!

Thank you Pender Regift Thrift Store!An Assisting Young Mothers program staffer was invited to Pender Regift Thrift Store in early May. Pender Regift donated a large bag of summer clothing for the infants and toddlers in the AYM and HYI programs. This will really help as we welcome warmer weather!

Thank You!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who made the boutique and flea market a huge success!Whether you did it by volunteering as a cashier, helping with set up, donating items, inviting others to shop or did some shopping yourself, because of your efforts, the boutique alone brought in over $8,000 that will go toward the UMW budget to support missions, both inside and outside the church as well as other Pender activities! In addition, the flea market brought in over $5,000 for the UMM budget and also as an outreach opportunity as we financially supported several men from West Virginia with jobs for the week. God is Great!
Rev Kev and JC Reigns would like to thank ALL of the children and adults who volunteered to help make An Evening to Remember such an enjoyable and memorable event. 5 bus loads of residents from 5 different nursing homes in the area attended and they all had an amazing time singing, clapping, laughing and dancing.
BIG THANK YOU from Carol Wilson to all who contributed their time and efforts to help make the Mother-Daughter Tea a success!! The UMW also wants to express our appreciation for the music by JC Reigns which added so much!
