Pender Music: 10, 000 Reasons

At Pender’s common ground contemporary worship on September 10, 2023 the Pender Praise Band sang 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord).

Led by AJ Rios on keyboards, the band consists of Megan Parker, Jane McKee (autoharp) and Arlet Williams.

“10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” is a worship song co-written by Matt Redman and Jonas Myrin, first recorded by Redman for his 10,000 Reasons album, released in 2011 on Kingsway Music, and subsequently included on a number of compilations, covered by other artists and included as congregational worship music in English or in translation around the world.

In 2013, the song won two Grammy Awards for “Best Contemporary Christian Music Song” and “Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance”.

After the song’s success and impact, Redman also published a book: 10,000 Reasons: Stories of Faith, Hope, and Thankfulness Inspired by the Worship Anthem.

This is the Sign

At Pender’s 9:00 am Traditional and 11:15 am Common Ground Contemporary Services, Pastor Will White, continues the Lenten series “Rend Your Hearts: Claiming the Promise”.
The Message will be “This is the Sign” based on Genesis 9:8-17, 1 Peter 3:18-22 and Mark 1:9-15.
Lent began on Ash Wednesday; we admit that. But this first Sunday is when many people become aware of the season. If there are rituals to be adopted, they will often begin today. So, we are on the brink again, or still, or even for the first time, of the journey. That’s why we begin with promise; we begin with covenant.
Today we will also celebrate Scout Sunday and have a Blessing of the Bibles for First Grades

Follow Me!

Rev. Will White continues his series “Follow Me!”

The Third Message will be “Follow Me” based on Jonah 3:1-5101 Corinthians 7:29-31 and Mark 1:14-20

How do we convince people that following Jesus is not simply about a state of being, but a call to doing? Certainly, there is a need for training, for preparation, for growing as disciples; but the end is always an outward focus, always looking for ways to connect, to widen the net.

Anything Good from the series Follow Me!

Rev. Will White continues his series “Follow Me!”

The Second Message will be “Anything Good”based on 1 Samuel 3:1-10, 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 and John 1:43-51

“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” That’s our guiding phrase from our gospel text for this week. “Anything good?” Surely you can hear how that sounds. Surely in our contentious environment, you hear the presupposition behind the sarcasm. You can hear the prejudice tucked away in such an innocuous joke.

We are potentially dealing with some difficult topics this week. They are not difficult because they are complicated but because they are threatening. And personal. And most folk have some pretty entrenched positions on race and ethnicity..
