Cushing's and kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) patient, founder, owner and webmaster of Cushing's Help and Support, web designer, piano teacher and mom.
I am a Cushing's patient who has dealt with Cushing's symptoms since 1983 (or earlier) and the aftereffects of pituitary surgery since 1987.
Because I had very little support for my symptoms, diagnosis and surgery, I decided to try to make things a little better for other patients and started a support site called Cushing's Help and Support in 2000. The site has grown to astronomical numbers. This disease isn't as rare as doctors have told us!
In 2006, I was also diagnosed with kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma). My left kidney and adrenal gland were removed. Having an adrenal gland removed complicates my post-Cushing's symptoms.
I am not planning to have any more rare and unusual diseases.

But, enough of that - it's not always about Cushing's, or even Cancer. This one is about Life!
There have been several incidents recently in which non-Pender people have been found in the building when they shouldn’t have been. The Trustees want to remind everyone of the following regarding church safety & security:
User Organizations have the responsibility to ensure that their events are safe for everyone. As such, the following rules apply:
- The Church Buildings shall be kept locked at all times except Sunday mornings.
- Card keys are available to church members who have a need to access the building during times when it is locked. A request form must be filled out and turned in along with a $5 refundable deposit in order to receive a key
- For events at times when the building is locked, the User Organization shall appoint greeters to be stationed at the door(s) to let people in and to direct them to the event. At NO time shall the doors shall not be left open/unlocked
- The User Organization will ensure that all members of their Group are contained within the agreed upon area for their event, and that members do not visit other parts of the Church.
- The User Organization may open internal doors and windows for additional ventilation but must close and secure all doors and windows upon completion of their event.
- The User Organization must ensure all lights are turned off in the areas they have used and that all external doors are locked when they depart.

Pender’s annual summer Music Camp will be held on July 6-10 from 12:30pm-3:30pm. Our theme this year is “The Amazing Grace Race.” Children in rising 2nd through rising 6th grade are invited to participate. Rising 7-12th graders who are interested in volunteering can also sign up online on our website starting today
The cost is $25 per child, $50 per family (siblings only).
