About MaryO
Cushing's and kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) patient, founder, owner and webmaster of Cushing's Help and Support, web designer, piano teacher and mom.
I am a Cushing's patient who has dealt with Cushing's symptoms since 1983 (or earlier) and the aftereffects of pituitary surgery since 1987.
Because I had very little support for my symptoms, diagnosis and surgery, I decided to try to make things a little better for other patients and started a support site called Cushing's Help and Support in 2000. The site has grown to astronomical numbers. This disease isn't as rare as doctors have told us!
In 2006, I was also diagnosed with kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma). My left kidney and adrenal gland were removed. Having an adrenal gland removed complicates my post-Cushing's symptoms.
I am not planning to have any more rare and unusual diseases.
My entire bio to date can be found here: http://www.cushings-help.com/maryos_story.htm
But, enough of that - it's not always about Cushing's, or even Cancer. This one is about Life!

Sing ‘n Celebrate Celebration of Children at October 1 at 5:00
Save this date for your family’s opportunity to hear Pender kids sharing about the beautiful story of “Good Good Father” — which will leave your children with a greater understanding of who God is and of who they are because they are loved by Him.
We read in Matthew 7:12 – “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you”, which is commonly known as the Golden Rule.
This statement, as Jesus formulated it, is the foundation of active goodness and mercy — the kind of love God shows to us every day.
We have a special opportunity next Sunday to be witness to our children and grandchildren demonstrating in words and acting this type of love.

World Communion Sunday offers us an opportunity to experience Holy Communion in the context of the global community of faith.
The first Sunday of October has become a time when Christians in every culture break bread and pour the cup to remember and affirm Christ as the Head of the Church.
On that day, we remember that we are part of the whole body of believers.
Christians celebrate the communion liturgy in as many ways as there are congregations. World Communion Sunday can be both a profound worship experience and a time for learning more about our wider community of faith.
Come, celebrate at Pender this Sunday at 8:15, 9:30 or 11:00 AM

On October 6th at 4pm the pumpkin truck will arrive at Pender! We need all the help we can get to get the pumpkins off the truck and into our patch!
After that, we need volunteers to sit in the patch from 11am-7pm daily (except Sunday). Please consider taking a shift or many! Your time supports the Pender Turning Point Youth, the Navajo Indians in Arizona who grew our pumpkins and of course Tim.
Also…teenagers, if you need service hours, this counts!!
Thank you and see you in the Patch!

Thank you to all of our Pender people who brought their smiles and warm, welcoming spirits to our Pender Rocks the Block last Friday. We estimated that over 500 people were in attendance! We were introduced to neighbors, friends, co-workers, preschool parents, firefighters and more!
Thank you to each and every one of you who participated in small ways and in big ways and everything in between! We were so blessed by the amount of Pender people who:
- Helped plan the event from start to finish
- Prayed for us, the event and the weather
- Helped with set up and take down of the event
- Greeted our neighbors, families and friends with Christ’s love and joy
- Assisted in our Kid Zone, Teen Zone, Food Zone, and Adult Zone
- Participated in or entertained us at our Pender’s Got Talent Show
- Helped with traffic control and hospitality
- and more…
What a united and fun time for our entire church and surrounding neighborhood! Let’s keep this fire burning and continue to invite others to our church and our other upcoming events!
