Thanksgiving Baskets for the Needy

Help Pender’s Loving God/Loving Neighbors ESL Ministry bless needy families with a Thanksgiving food basket and clothing.

The families will be visiting our church on November 17th for pick up. We will welcome them, have prayer time, share refreshments and celebrate with them how great is our God.

How can you help?

Monetary donations needed to help our volunteers select the requested food items. (Make checks payable to Pender UMC and write “Thanksgiving Baskets” in the memo section or give online through our website.)

Volunteers needed to assemble the baskets on Sunday, November 15th at 12:30pm in the Fellowship Hall and help with the bagging of items and baking cookies.
Volunteers needed on November 17th from 10am-2pm for basket pick up.

The Pender Prime Timers meet again!

Thursday, November 19th at noon

We’ll gather to share a meal — but save your potluck dishes for another time– lunch will be provided by us. Come check out our culinary skill!

Please RSVP to Becky by clicking on this link by Nov. 12 and let her know if you have any food allergies so we can make accommodations.

Just bring yourselves and a $5 donation. Of course, friends are always welcome, so spread the word!

Immediately following, we’ll watch a Christian movie or other movie classic in the Fellowship Hall. If you have a suggested title, please send them to Becky to put on the list of possibilities. (We’ll have a vote later in November.)

Small Group Celebration!

Join us next Friday evening, November 13, at 7pm, for dessert and coffee (and other beverages) as we celebrate the conclusion of our church-wide study and message series, “A Disciple’s Path.”

We had a great turn out at the opening celebration, and if you attended that, we’d love for you to invite a friend this time! During our time together we will have an “open-mic” time of testimony sharing regarding your experiences through small groups and diving deeper into what it means to follow the disciple’s path through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.

We will also share information about our upcoming Advent message series and group experience entitled, “Under Wraps: The Gift We Never Expected.”

Please RSVP to Joyce Munt in the church office by Wednesday, November 11, and let us know how many folks you’ll be bringing with you!

Operation Christmas Child

Help Pender share the love of Christ throughout the world by participating in Operation Christmas Child this year!

Collect items to pack shoe boxes (small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, t-shirts, socks, accessories, & $7 for shipping) and place in the Christmas box near the coat racks by Nov. 15th.

Pack a shoe box or two with your family or small group. (Instructions are located in the church lobby.) Filled boxes are due to Pender on Nov. 22nd.

Pray that God will direct each person packing shoe boxes to put in just the right items for the child who will receive the box. Pray also that the children will receive Christ as their best gift.

Donations for shipping are needed as each box costs $7 to ship. Checks should be made out to Pender UMC, with OCC in the memo. Donations may also be made online by clicking on this link.

Help receive packed shoe boxes from the community between Nov.16th-23rd by volunteering for one or more slots. Training will be provided. Positions include greeting visitors and unloading and packing up shoe boxes. Sign up to help by clicking on this link.

Sing ‘N Celebrate ~ Celebrating Military

November 8th @ 5-6pm in the Fellowship Hall

We have been glad to hear that our new earlier hour of meeting is very popular! This upcoming SNC will give all of us the opportunity to express our appreciation for our members of the military.

We not only are inviting all Pender military members to attend this service, but we will also have the privilege of hearing two members of the military share about their experiences in serving our country.

In addition, Kay Creel of Pender’s Military Ministry will present some scarves and lap afghans knitted by our Prayer Shawl Ministry, which will be blessed by Pastor Kenny before being sent to deserving members of the military.
