Acolyte training will be held on Sunday, April 6th, for all current acolytes and interested 5th grade through high school students. We have made some changes and want to make sure everyone is aware of them.
If you are currently an acolyte or interested in becoming a member of this important ministry, please meet in the sanctuary at 9:30 am.
If you cannot make the session, please contact Sandy Tucker here.

Rev. Kevin Havens (RevKev) says:
We wanted to let you know that on Saturday, November 16th, The JC Reigns Little Big Band, will host another Evening To Remember here at Pender UMC.
This is a time when we invite the elderly from area Senior Living Facilities, to be our guests, as many of them will not be able to “go home” for the holidays.
This is an evening of fun music from their past, as they are escorted by US Marine Corp personnel, served by 4th to 6th grade young people, with homemade desserts and refreshments.
There is no charge, this is simply an opportunity for our congregation and friends to be there as hosts and hostesses, for those who spend much of their time alone and gazing out the window.
I hope you will make plans to join us and I will promise, you too will be blessed by those you come to serve. They are very appreciative and this is something that we want to continue to offer, so they feel special at this time of year.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of this wonderful ministry to those who might not have other options when we gather with our families.

All women are welcome, so please invite your friends and family!

Additionally, we will have several breakout discussions and fellowship activities focused on how the UMW can make a difference in our community.
- Doors will open at 9:00 am for registration and a light breakfast.
- Program will start at 9:30 and will last until approximately 3:00 pm.
- Registration fee is $10 per person to cover the cost of breakfast and lunch, payable on the morning of the event.

We will have breakfast snacks provided during the 8:15 and 9:30 worship services, with a full blown, “old fashioned” Methodist pot luck after the 11:00 service.
Our ministry areas and cluster leads will be on hand to answer questions and greet our guests. It is our hope you will join us, with a friend, to make a difference on Back To Church Sunday on September 8th!
Come and invite a friend for a spectacular day of food, fellowship, new faces and ministry opportunities!
September 8, 2013 Sermon: What’s Missing in CH__CH?
The scripture will be Mark 1:29-31. “As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.”
