We are the only church around with a 5,000 sq ft warehouse and a loading dock. Working with for-profit, nonprofit, and government partners, we maximize our nonprofit potential. Our thrift store supports our nonprofit mission. We are family friendly.

Being thrifty, seeking value, or frugality, are all generally given a bad rap, but in this tough economic climate, you can defend your right to be smart.

Our thrift store, offers a wide variety of unique items. Our furniture includes beds, couches, sofa beds, office chairs, tables, desks, cabinets, filing cabinets, baby furniture, and lawn furniture. All upholstered items have been sanitized in accordance with government regulations. Our gently-used clothing has been carefully sorted and sized. We have a wide variety of accessories including hats, shoes, purses, belts, and scarves. Our electronics department has a wide variety of computer equipment, including keyboards, monitors, printers, microwaves, and other small appliances.

We carry big appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers, and dryers. We have toys, sports equipment, linens, and lawn tools. Our books and media include DVDs, CDs, audio books, fiction, nonfiction, classics, a wide variety of children’s chapter books and early readers. We specialize in books for teachers and students. Necklaces and Earrings: Terry Havens Gone Wild

More from the Pender ReGift Thrift Store…

regift-jewelry
Uh, if you don’t know, Terry Havens is our associate pastor’s wife, so when we’re talking about going wild, it ain’t That Wild. On the other hand, if you saw the earring and necklace boards that she has created and filled with her handiwork, you would understand that she has certainly outdone herself this time!

Like Saundra Sandrock, Terry has volunteered her time, talent, and materials to us for free, to benefit our mission and the thrift store. She has suggested more-than-reasonable prices, with necklaces for $5 and $6 and earrings going for $2 and $3 a pair.

You better come quick! Terry’s ideas on display and marketing have already been effective. I wasn’t even able to take pictures before holes developed in the board by pieces being sold.

Thank you, Terry!

News from the Pender ReGift Thrift Store

Pender ReGift Thrift Store

Pender ReGift Thrift Store is an outreach ministry of Pender United Methodist Church. Originally formed as “The Outreach Center,” which still operates at 12401 Alder Woods Dr., Fairfax VA 22033, the thrift store was started because the outgrowth from the at-church location.

We accept gently-used material goods. They can either be brought to the store during business hours, or taken to the church’s pod at any time. If you need a pickup, then you need to complete our online donation pick-up form, and your pick-up will be scheduled.

Our nonprofit mission is to be a witness by distributing material goods to those who need them. We have worked with both governmental and nonprofit organizations to maximize our distribution effectiveness. We’ve distributed locally, nationally, and internationally. We helped quite a few people establish households after being homeless or institutionalized.

Our store helps finance our operations, but as yet, our store has yet to cover all costs. Last month, your generous individual donations helped bridge the gap.

There is too much for me to do it all by myself. Currently we are actively seeking volunteers for marketing, for pricing and sorting, for deliveries and pick-ups, and to help mind the store.

If we cannot sell an item, or find a good home for it, we will recycle. Recycling is a distinguishing characteristic of our nonprofit. In addition to traditional recycling of cardboard, paper, plastic, and aluminum, we also recycle for metal, electronics, wood, and hardback books.

We hope that you will support our cause by shopping, volunteering, or donating.

Thanks!

Maryann Weber

Director
