Back to Church Sunday ~ September 8th ~ INVITE A FRIEND!

back-to-church

We will have breakfast snacks provided during the 8:15 and 9:30 worship services, with a full blown, “old fashioned” Methodist pot luck after the 11:00 service.

Our ministry areas and cluster leads will be on hand to answer questions and greet our guests.

It is our hope you will join us, with a friend, to make a difference on Back To Church Sunday on September 8th!

Come and invite a friend for a spectacular day of food, fellowship, new faces and ministry opportunities!

Sunday at Pender UMC

this-week320

We return to a part of our heritage as Methodists, the Campmeeting.  It will be a time to sing the old hymns, enjoy the upbeat worship and hear the Gospel preached that will help those who are lost and wandering in our community.

Sermon on August 11:  LOST Coin – Luke 15:8-10

A lost coin can mean a lot or not anything at all these days.  Who stoops down to even retrieve a penny anymore?  Yet the coin mentioned here has GREAT worth.  What would you do to find it?  Let’s see what happens when we lose something because of carelessness.

“And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’  In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

At 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00AM

A Traveler’s Guide to the Heritage Landmarks of The United Methodist Church

old-stone-church

PDF Version

By action of the 2012 General Conference, there are currently forty-six Heritage Landmarks of The United Methodist Church. Five new Heritage Landmarks were designated by the General Conference with three outside the United States. These are in the Philippines, Zimbabwe, and Liberia. The Book of Discipline defines a Heritage Landmark as “a building, location, or structure specifically related to significant events, developments, or personalities in the overall history of The United Methodist Church or its antecedents.”

The Heritage Landmarks of United Methodism remind us of those people and events that have shaped our history. They are tangible reminders of our heritage and their preservation helps keep our denominational legacy alive. For further information about the forty-six Heritage Landmarks or to learn how a place becomes so designated, please contact the General Secretary, General Commission on Archives and History, P.O. Box 127, Madison, NJ 07940 or email rwilliams@gcah.org.

Material in this guide may be copied by local churches, Heritage Landmarks, and other agencies of The United Methodist Church without further approval.
