Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Pender

Rev. Will White will preach a sermon titled, “Blessed Be the Ties?” based on 1 Thessalonians 5:14, 1 John 1:7 and Matthew 22:37-39

Goal: To encourage Christian fellowship.

This Sunday, we’ll depart a little from the process of growing in faith to talk about a tool that helps make it happen.

Q: What needs to be in place for Christian growth to occur?

A: A Christlike character of the church, small groups, and accountability, help drive “disciple-making”.

Please listen to the archives as we continue our worship series regarding “The Way of Salvation“.

Sunday, September 8, At Pender

Sunday will be a busy day!

Taste and See That the Lord is Good

At our 8:15, 9:30 and 11 am services Thom Jones will preach on Taste and See That the Lord is Good based on scriptures Psalm 34:1-10 and Psalm 34:11-22

Psalms 34: This psalm from David contains both thanksgiving to God and instruction for all of us.

First, David praises God for the experience which he and others had realized of His goodness.

Secondly, he encourages all good people to trust in God and to seek Him.

The third thing he does is give good counsel to us all, as unto children, to take heed of sin, and to show awareness of our duty both to God and to our fellow man (and woman). Finally, David enforces this good counsel by showing God’s favour to the righteous and His displeasure against the wicked, in which he sets before us good and evil: the blessing and the curse.  As we sing the psalm, we are to give glory to God, but we are also ordered to teach and admonish ourselves and one another.  It’s a joyful lesson, in a humbling sort of way.

We hope to see you in church on Sunday.

Today at Pender UMC ~ November 12, 2017

Please join us today at our 8:15, 9:30 or 11:00 am worship services. We will bring to a conclusion the three week series on the Three Simple Rules of our founder John Wesley. These are rules which call forth the best in each of us, and challenge us to be Jesus’ disciples every day. The key to our success is in the third rule: Stay in Love with God. (Mark 12:28-34)
We also will begin to receive our Pledge Cards for your financial stewardship commitments.
Also today:
The United Methodist Women will host a Fair Trade Market after the 11am service (during the Chicken-Chili lunch) in the fellowship room and fellowship hall. The vendors will sell fair trade goods, including: food, clothing, accessories, household goods, decorations, etc. Please come peruse the merchandise and know that anything you purchase has helped to better the life of someone in a less fortunate situation than ours.
Fair trade means workers in developing countries are paid a living wage. Some of the proceeds will go to the Pender UMW for our mission work and UMCOR. Thanks for your support and happy shopping!
