How to Draw Classes

How to Draw Classes

Pender’s Children’s Ministry Leader David Raich is offering How To Draw lessons for children from Pre-K through 6th Grade. Join us on select Sundays at 1pm!

There will be two How to Draw events this month with more added next month:

January 17 – “Winter Town”
January 31 – “Valentine theme”

Both events will start at 1 pm and for no longer than an hour.

Children minimal requirements: must be able to follow directions and know basic shapes of the alphabet!

Parental involvement as parent knows their own child and needs best.

**Supplies needed – At least an 8.5 X 11 paper to draw on and parent/kid choice of markers, crayons or colored pencils.

***We will CAP the event at 20 live feeds. Hopefully, this will reduce lag time and other technical disturbances.

Watch Night 2020

John Wesley believed that Methodists and all Christians, should reaffirm their covenant with God annually, so he created a service in which an individual renews his/her covenant with God.

In 1755 Wesley held his first covenant service using words written earlier by Richard Alleine. Wesley published this service in a pamphlet in 1780, and this form was used without alteration for nearly a century in England. It has been modified somewhat in more recent years.

The covenant hymn, “Come, Let Us Use the Grace Divine,” was written for this service by Charles Wesley. The service is included in The Book of Worship under the title “An Order of Worship for Such as Would Enter Into or Renew Their Covenant with God–For Use in a Watch Night Service, on the First Sunday of the Year, or Other Occasion.”

This covenant service is often used in United Methodism as a Watch Night Service on New Year’s Eve. The covenant service is observed in some local churches on New Year’s Day or on the first Sunday in January. The service focuses on the Christian’s renewing the covenant of response to the grace of God in Christ.

Tomorrow at Pender ~ The Second Sunday of Advent ~ December 6, 2020

Spiritual Sunday — Happy 2nd Week of Advent!

On this second Sunday of Advent, as we think about the coming of Christ, we light the purple candle of peace. We take time to reflect on God’s peace that he supplies to us without end in Jesus.

Also tomorrow:

First Sunday of the month, 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Location: Pender United Methodist Church, 12401 Alder Woods Drive, Fairfax, VA US 22033

Outdoor Communion will be held for the Traditional Service at 1:00 pm.

Communion will be held for the Common Ground Contemporary Service at 2:00 pm.

At 3:00 pm there will be a Live Stream Communion for those who cannot attend the Outdoor Communion. No signup necessary but please have grape juice and bread ready.

Please note that communion services cannot be recorded for later viewing.
