About MaryO

Cushing's and kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) patient, founder, owner and webmaster of Cushing's Help and Support, web designer, piano teacher and mom. I am a Cushing's patient who has dealt with Cushing's symptoms since 1983 (or earlier) and the aftereffects of pituitary surgery since 1987. Because I had very little support for my symptoms, diagnosis and surgery, I decided to try to make things a little better for other patients and started a support site called Cushing's Help and Support in 2000. The site has grown to astronomical numbers. This disease isn't as rare as doctors have told us! In 2006, I was also diagnosed with kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma). My left kidney and adrenal gland were removed. Having an adrenal gland removed complicates my post-Cushing's symptoms. I am not planning to have any more rare and unusual diseases. We just recently completed our church-wide study and message series called,“A Disciple’s Path,” in which we rediscovered our identity as followers of Jesus in the Wesleyan tradition. An important aspect of living out our faith together is what John Wesley called, “watching over one another in love.” How do we do that, especially today in the 21st century?

JLU (Jesus Loves You) Pender’s Grade 4 – 6 Junior Youth Group

Thanksgiving Baskets for the Needy

Help Pender’s Loving God/Loving Neighbors ESL Ministry bless needy families with a Thanksgiving food basket and clothing.

The families will be visiting our church on November 17th for pick up. We will welcome them, have prayer time, share refreshments and celebrate with them how great is our God.

How can you help?

Monetary donations needed to help our volunteers select the requested food items. (Make checks payable to Pender UMC and write “Thanksgiving Baskets” in the memo section or give online through our website.)

Volunteers needed to assemble the baskets on Sunday, November 15th at 12:30pm in the Fellowship Hall and help with the bagging of items and baking cookies.
Volunteers needed on November 17th from 10am-2pm for basket pick up.
