Confirmation Classes at Pender UMC

confirmation-feature

Confirmation is a time to learn about your church, the entire church community and what it means to be a faithful Christian. You will also understand the privileges and responsibilities of church membership.

Confirmation is open to 7th graders and up. Confirmation gives the student a chance to make their own decision to follow Jesus Christ, to be baptized and to join your local church.

The period of study in confirmation classes is a time for the student to learn and know the tenets of the church they are in so that they can make an informed decision about joining the church as an adult.

Don’t Forget to Change Your Clocks Tonight!

2014 Day Light Savings

Daylight Savings time begins again!

On Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2:00:00 AM (or earlier!) clocks are turned forward 1 hour to become Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 3:00:00 AM

Daylight Savings TIme is not just a way to annoy us when we want to sleep in on Sundays.  The modern idea of daylight saving was first proposed in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson and it was first implemented during the First World War.

Although most of the United States used DST throughout the 1950s and 1960s, DST use expanded following the 1970s energy crisis and has generally remained in use in North America and Europe since that time.

Everybody sing along…

World Communion Sunday, October 6, 2013

world-communion

World Communion Sunday offers us an opportunity to experience Holy Communion in the context of the global community of faith.

The first Sunday of October has become a time when Christians in every culture break bread and pour the cup to remember and affirm Christ as the Head of the Church.

On that day, we remember that we are part of the whole body of believers.

Christians celebrate the communion liturgy in as many ways as there are congregations. World Communion Sunday can be both a profound worship experience and a time for learning more about our wider community of faith.

Come, celebrate at Pender this Sunday at 8:15, 9:30 or 11:00 AM
