What You Might Not Know About the Bible App

YouVersion on the iPad

YouVersion on the iPad

From my email – here are the most common Bible App questions we hear from the YouVersion community around the world and, of course—their answers:

  • How can I use the Bible App during a flight or on the subway? Even if you can’t connect to the Internet or your provider, you can still use the Bible App “offline.” To be able to read offline, sometime when you are connected (Wi-Fi works best), download any available Bible versions you’d like directly onto your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device. Then the next time you can’t get a signal, you can still read. (On iOS devices, you can even use your Notes and Bible Plans offline!)
  • I started a plan, but I’ve missed a few days. Can you help? Fallen a little behind on your Bible Plan? Happens to the best of us. In the Bible App, go to Plans, Settings (the gear icon). Scroll down and tap Catch Me Up. Your plan schedule shifts so that the last day you completed becomes yesterday. (Any partially completed days will still be unfinished). It’s easy!
  • Can I get my Bible Plan emailed to my Inbox? Sure! In the Bible App, go to Plans, Settings (the gear icon) and turn on Email Delivery. Specify the time of day and the Bible version you’d like to receive. (You can set up email delivery at bible.com too.)
  • I’m new to the Bible. Where should I start? Welcome! To jump right in, try John chapter 1, which begins with the life of Jesus and his disciples. Prefer more structure? Go to Plans, Browse, New for a list of recently added Bible Plans. (When you subscribe to a Bible Plan, each day the Bible App shows you what to read.)
  • How is the Verse of the Day selected? Drawing from a variety of sources, we choose each Verse of the Day to encourage, motivate, and inspire you, and to let God’s Word speak to you wherever you are. The Verse of the Day appears every day on the main “Today” view of the Bible App and on our Facebook page.

Still have questions? Passionate volunteers are ready to answer. Visit support.youversion.com or go to Help, right in your Bible App. We’re here to help!

Videos Feature Comes to the YouVersion Bible App

YouVersion on the iPad

YouVersion on the iPad

From my email:

We’re excited to announce the launch of a brand-new feature for the Bible App: Videos. Now you can use the Bible App to watch and share Bible video content, generously provided by YouVersion partners. You’ll find clips from The Bible miniseries, The Lumo Project from Big Book Media and Toy Gun Productions, and even more videos coming soon. You’ll even be able to enjoy clips from JESUS, the Jesus Film Media movie about Jesus’ life that’s already been shown more than 6 billion times worldwide!

At YouVersion, we’re constantly looking for new ways to help you engage with God’s Word. We believe Videos will help people connect with the Bible by letting them visually experience stories and concepts from the Bible—even if reading isn’t your favorite thing. Sharing video clips will also present new opportunities for you to invite discussion about your faith. And all video content is linked directly to the passages that inspired it, so you can jump straight to the original source!

To check out the Bible App’s new Videos feature, first make sure you have the most recent version of the Bible App on your iOS (iPhone and iPad) or Android device. Then simply go to the Bible App’s main menu and select “Videos.” (Wi-Fi access recommended for the best experience.) You’ll even see the new Videos feature on Bible.com.

Don’t have an iPad? No problem! View the videos here.

From YouVersion: Intentional Preparation for Easter

From my email:

People around the world will celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on Sunday, March 31. In the weeks leading up to Easter, many individuals put intentional practices in place to focus on the nature and meaning of Christ’s sacrifice. This year Lent begins on Wednesday, February 13.

Please consider joining the YouVersion community in preparing your heart with one of the following Reading Plans, each one designed specifically for this season:

Bringing the Bible to Life

As we study Jesus’ life and his sacrifice for us, it helps to understand the context of his time on earth. The Bible is a five-part series from Executive Producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett that breathes life into tales of faith and courage from Genesis through Revelation. We’ve been chosen as the official Bible App for the series, and very soon you’ll be able to watch video content right in the Bible App. The Bible series begins 3-3-13; check your local TV listings for times.
