Does The United Methodist Church have a position about Halloween?

happy-halloween-clipart_3

The United Methodist Church does not have an official statement or position regarding Halloween.

Church members are free to make their own decisions about their participation in Halloween activities.  Local churches can decide if they wish to offer traditional or alternative activities for children at Halloween.

Pender is excited to once again host Christmas Vacation Bible School!

We’d love to lighten your load this holiday season and give you the gift of time to prepare for Christmas. Your children will have a wonderful time learning about the true meaning of Christmas while moving through different rotations of Christmas Story, craft, music and recreation. The children will be served lunch, so please note any allergies your child has on the registration form (available October 31 through My Pender Page).

Children ages 3 through 6th grade are welcome. Please note that all children attending MUST be potty-trained.

The fee for this event is $10 per child or $20 per family, to cover the cost of food and craft materials. The fee is payable during registration.

Registration begins October 31 and ends November 30, 2014.  Get the link at http://www.penderumc.org/christmasvbs

Pender will once again be collecting filled shoe boxes, as well as items for shoe boxes, donations for shipping, and collected boxes from the community. Now is a great time to start collecting items for shoe boxes. Look for sales on school supplies, toiletry items, small toys and candy.
Look for a display and more information later this month.

Sing ‘n Celebrate November 2

sing-celebrate-text-header

Sing ‘n Celebrate is Pender Church’s informal evening worship service that has a focus on contemporary Christian music and original dramas and testimonies. Dress is casual and the atmosphere offers a wonderful means to start the week with God in mind.

In addition to music and testimonies, prayer is offered. Communion is served periodically.

Sing ‘n Celebrate ~ November 2 at 7:00 PM

We’ll begin the evening with a potluck supper at 6 PM in the Fellowship Hall which will be followed at 7 PM with our service in the sanctuary. Pastor Kenny will conclude the service with a Time of Healing.

In his book, “ALL IN”, Mark Batterson shares that “Jesus is in the business of turning bad beginnings into happily ever afters”. We all have special stories, as to what Jesus has done in our lives, which are our testimonies. Please plan to join us for food first and then in support of the Pender folks who will be sharing their stories with us.

JC Reigns leads worship with both modern Christian songs and a selection of old church hymns – the aim is to meet the needs of all who attend. JC Reigns has been together for 14 years and over the course of that time, has recorded five Christian CDs and used all the proceeds to benefit world wide and local charities.

Whether you are a new Christian, or have been following Christ for years, this is just a wonderful way to gather in fellowship, sing songs to God and listen to your brothers and sisters as they share their faith. We invite you to come and bring a friend, meet other Pender People and leave with a song on your heart and the Son in your eyes.

A Way to Serve the Lord…

Carol Wilson needs members of the laity to train this year to serve as the Lay Director or a Co-Lay Director for our Sing ‘n Celebrate Service. If interested in finding out more information, please contact Carol by clicking here.
