May 3:   Power of the Tongue:  Positive – Proverbs 15:23-28 and I Timothy 6:11-16

What we say shapes and molds who we are and what we become.  Do you make a positive confession.  Do the words that come out of your mouth reflect the graciousness and goodness that God wants to give us?  Let’s talk about what the positive words we speak can do.

  • May 3: Sunday School Class: The Truth Project (began September 21) This Focus on the Family’s DVD series, with 26 one-half hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett, is the starting point for looking at life from a Biblical perspective. lesson discusses the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life.
  • May 3: Sunday School Class: The Good and Beautiful God (began September 21) (Room 205 – Library) A new Sunday School course immediately after the 9:30 am worship service led by Brian and Angie Green will be reading and discussing this book. To sign up or find out more information, please sign up on the Connection Card in the bulletin on Sunday.
  • May 3: Sunday School II for adults.  10:45 am-noon
  • May 3: Traditional Service,  11:00 am. More information
  • May 3: Flea Market lunch and setup,  12:00 pm. More information
  • May 3: Youth Confirmation Classes, 2:00 pm
  • May 3: Turning Point Youth Group, 6:30 pm, with dinner. More information

Donations to Nepal

Would you like to make a financial donation to the earthquake relief effort in Nepal?  You can do so through The United Methodist Church’s Committee on Relief.  Donations can be made in several ways: 

·         Directly on UMCOR’s website at this link (https://secure3.convio.net/gbgm/site/SPageNavigator/umcor_donate.html?type=1002&project=982450)

·         Online through My Pender Page on Pender’s website at this link (https://secure.accessacs.com/access/nonmemberlogin.aspx?sn=108500).  Select the Misc. Fund and write “Nepal # 982450” in the optional description box

·         Write a check to Pender – write “Nepal # 982450” on the memo line – and put it in the offering plate. 

 

We will make sure UMCOR receives all donations made through Pender.

 

UMCOR is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing humanitarian relief and disaster response.  When you make a financial donation to UMCOR, you can be assured that every dollar will go to the program you specify. Flea Market Set Up ~ Sunday, May 3

Pender Music Camp Online Registration Begins May 1

Pender’s annual summer Music Camp will be held on July 6-10 from 12:30pm-3:30pm. Our theme this year is “The Amazing Grace Race.” Children in rising 2nd through rising 6th grade are invited to participate. Rising 7-12th graders who are interested in volunteering can also sign up online on our website starting May 1.

 

The cost will be $25 per child, $50 per family (siblings only). If you have any questions about Music Camp, please contact Theresa Carpenter or Nicole Parrish.

                        The words we use have a great effect on us personally and others socially.  What comes out of our mouths is often so toxic and destructive that it destroys and we aren’t even aware of what we’ve done.  Let’s look at what the power of words from our tongue are having.
